He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Gindling and Laura Shevlin Gindling; and his wife Lois Gindling. He is survived by: his children, Liz Dean (William) of Geneva and Jim Gindling (Cheryl) of Farmington; his grandchildren, Sara Dean Salony (Pete), Laura Dean (Dan Roman), William Dean III (Grace), Erica Dean, Joseph Dean (Marie Amalric), Hannah Dean and Nicole Gindling; his great grandchildren, William, IV and Penelope Dean; and his siblings, John Gindling (Karyl) of Dallas, TX and Mary Jane Lydenberg of Princeton, NJ. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
