He was predeceased by: his mother Dorothy Fleming Cooley. He is survived by: his wife Sue Dangl Cooley; his children, Chris Cooley (Brittany Taylor) and Katie Trout (Andrew); his grandson Hayden; his father Charles James "Jim" Cooley; his siblings, Mike Cooley (Patty), Eileen Sullivan (Matthew) and Hope Dodge (Ernie); his brother-in-law John Dangl (Ella); and his aunt Jane Fleming Hefferon. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Peter's Community Arts Academy.
