She is survived by: her husband James Bogardus; and her children, Laurel Cole (Jamie LeBlanc), Jamie Tanner (Bryan), Shayne Bogardus (Jessica), Zachary Bogardus (Margaux), Mathew Bogardus (Chelsea) and Mark Burdick (Denise).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to ALS Foundation, Upstate New York Chapter, 135 Old Cove Road, Suite 213, Liverpool, New York 13090 in Rita's memory.
