He was predeceased by: his sons, James L. Merritt and Timothy M. Merritt; and his brother Walter Merritt. He is survived by: his wife Joan Merritt (Corey); his daughter Maryann Merritt; and his grandchildren, Timothy, Anthony, Christopher, Charissa and Nicole. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
