He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth and Mary Thompson Sr. (Holford); and his brother Brian Beckley. He is survived by: his wife Debra Thompson; his sons, James Thompson Jr. (Matt) and Michael Thompson (Julie); his grandchildren, Shaylynn, Ryann, Dalton and Aaron; his siblings, Kenneth Thompson (Chris), David Thompson (Linda), Valerie Thompson and Cindy Beckley (Bobby); and his stepfather Virgil Beckley. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services will be private for family.
