He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Schichtel and Elizabeth Sauerwein Schichtel; and his brothers, Paul Schichtel, Phil Schichtel, Greg Schichtel, Dave Schichtel, Dick Stephan and Dan Stephan.
He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Hanson (Dave) of Dayton, OH, Kami McLaughlin (Tim) of Plantation, FL, Ashley Schichtel (Adam) of Olean, NY and Connor; his grandchildren, Rook, Gerry and Theo; and his siblings, Donna McVaugh (Otto), Ann Theil (Don), James Schichtel (Belinda), Randy Stephan of Springville and Terry Stephan (Betty) of West Valley.
Memorials may be made to Catholic Charites of WNY, ccwny.org or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, LLS.org. A collection box for food donations to the local Franklinville Pantry will be available on site to continue Gerald's charitable contribution.
