He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James E., Sr. and Melissa Reed Recknall; his wife Marie; his children, James M. Recknall and Karen Recknall of Utica; his siblings-in-law, Anthony and Carol Curtacci of Whitesboro; his nieces and nephews, Cindy James, Jim and Marie; and his pets, Gunner, Cooper and Limonade.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stevens Swan Humane Society in memory of James.
