He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Borst and Florence Swartz Borst; his wife Norma Jean Rice; and his siblings, Franklin Borst and Doris Phillips.

He is survived by: his children, Dawn Hisert, Barb Failing, Gordon "Bucky" Borst, Candy Borst, LaVerne Borst, Paul Borst and Faith Ann Borst. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
