He was predeceased by: his parents, Orlando Hazzard and Bertha Hazzard (Trask); and his great grandchild Annalyse Hope Smith. He is survived by: his wife Leona M. Herringshaw; his children, Sarah M. Gray (Steve) of Ephratah, Rachel L. Gay (Gary) of Little Falls, Charles L. Hazzard, Jr. (Margaret) of Temple and Bud H. Hazzard (Wendy) of Canajoharie; his grandchildren, Stephen (Kolbe Gray), Heidi (Nick Kreider), A. J. Hazzard, Jessica (Jayson Smith), Sarah (Mace Phillips) and Gary Gay (Lauren); his great grandchildren, Stephen, Mason Gray, Micah Kreider, Mace, Grayson Phillips, Henry Gay and Zayne Smith; and his siblings, Doris Bawolak of Mohawk, Darwin (Bonnie Hazzard), Ronald Hazzard of St. Johnsville and Leland (Carol Hazzard). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
