He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Gorthey and Rebecca Gorthey (Ballweber); and his brother Norman Gorthey. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Gorthey; his sons, Mark Gorthey, David Gorthy (Alison), Darren Gorthey (Jacqueline) and Sean Gorthey (Sarah); his grandchildren, Hunter, Gillian, Mason, Sophia, Violet, Thomas, Margaux, Quinn, ReeAnn and Logan; and his sisters, Carol Bokel (Joe) and Kathy Gorthey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, a memorial service and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
