He was predeceased by: his parents, Mack McDonald and Mabel McDonald (Trumball); his wife Elizabeth; his children, Carolyn Pfeiffer, Melissa McDonald, Patricia Ann Maille and Christopher James McDonald; and his siblings, Dorothy Grant, Bertha Fletcher, Vera Ellis, Merl and Donald McDonald.
He is survived by: his granddaughter Laura Mellott (Erik); his son-in-law Paul Maille; and also Tom Ellis.
