He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Barney and Anna Barney (Batraw); and his siblings, David, Andrew and Pauline Rousseau Ferraro.

He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Jones; his stepsons, Richard P. Bushey of Georgia, Clayton Jones (Skip) of Fort Covington and Alan Jones of Westville; his brother Donald Barney of Brushton; his sister-in-law Joan Barney of Brasher Falls; and his friend Donna Mayville of Moira. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
