James J. Gooldrup Iii Obituary
Portland, ME – James Joseph Gooldrup, 44, of Portland, died unexpectedly at his home on February 4, 2013. He was the husband of Dorothy L. (Gammon) Gooldrup. He was born on January 9, 1969 in Waterville, ME a son of James J. Gooldrup Sr. and his wife Irene of Biddeford and Cindy (Wyman) Caswell and her husband Robert of Fairfield.
Jim grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Lawrence High School. Right after high school, he enlisted in the US Army and served his country for the next four years. He married Dorothy on August 29, 1998. Jim was a cook by trade, he cooked for many different places, most notably Twin City Café in Biddeford and The Dry Dock in the Old Port in Portland.
He truly loved molding the young and volunteered at the Yes League and Portland Parks and Recreation; however he spent most of his time at the Boys and Girls Club on Cumberland Ave in Portland. He and his wife also played in a coed softball league in Biddeford together. Besides his parents and his wife he is survived by his eight children; James Gooldrup of Florida, Barbara Gooldrup of Augusta, ME, Rebecca and Rochelle Gooldrup of Maine, James and Harley Gooldrup of Onancock, VA and Dorothy and Calvin Gooldrup with whom he lived with.
He also leaves a grandson James as well as two brothers Randy Caswell and his fiancée Johnna of Maine and Chris Kennedy of Brooks, ME, two sisters Robin Hilsinger and her husband Kevin and Tonya Kinney and her husband Dean both of Brooks, ME and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 11 am – 2 pm at the Wilde Memorial Chapel at Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens Ave. Portland.
Military Honors will be presented at 1 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services.
