He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Pierce and Catherine Nitek Pierce; his wife Clara; his brother Mitchell Pierce; and his foster sister Helen Dombrowski.
He is survived by: his children, Stephen Pierce (Lidia) of New Hampton, Christina Murphy (John) of Middletown, NY and Joseph Pierce (Janine) of New Hampton; his stepgrandchildren, Lilia (Sasha) and Andrei (Genia); his stepgreat-grandchildren, Alicia, Lauriana, Vicky and Max of Montreal, Canada; his grandchildren, Michael Murphy (Carly), Meghan Barquero (Carlos), John Pierce, Helene Pierce (Daniel Wilson) and Rebecca Pierce; his great grandchildren, Keira, Evelene Murphy, Carlos and Gabriela Barquero; and his siblings-in-law, Elizabeth Pierce, Marie Wagoner (Jim) of Schenectady, NY and Joseph Poloniak (Susan) of Tennessee. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews.
