Willa E. Skinner Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Willa E. Skinner of Fishkill, New York, born in Manhattan, New York, who passed away on January 18, 2024, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Kretch and Bertha Kretch (Frering); her husband Ivan A. Skinner of Monticello, NY; and her sister Lola Yellen. She is survived by: her children, Fern Franke of Beacon, Matthew Skinner (Cathleen) of Guthrie, OK and Eugenia Ballard (Terence) of Ulster Park; her grandsons, Lt. Ian Skinner (US Army) and Jonathan Skinner (Kaitlyn); and her friend Pete Seeger. She is also survived by other loving relatives & friends.
In February of 2015, Willa was recipient of the Martha Washington Woman of History Award, given by Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site each year to a woman who has made a contribution to the history of the Hudson Valley through education, promotion, or preservation.
