He was predeceased by: his wife Anna Wells Howell; his parents, Alma Howell, and Richmond Howell, Sr.; and his sister Marjorie Rudd. He is survived by: his children, Nancy Levy and Richmond Howell III (Carol); his granddaughters, Melissa Ainsworth and Danielle Howell; his great grandchildren, Isaac Ainsworth and Adelaide Ainsworth; and his nieces and nephews, Connie Rudd Fry, Lori Devoy (Tom), Tom Rudd (Brenda), Phillip Rudd (Denise) and James Devoy (Nora).
