George left this world on September 14, 2024 at the age of 92, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. Though George may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those George touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Backus and Georgia Backus; his son Robert Backus; and his siblings, Donald "Gus", David Backus, Jean Martel and Janet Martin.
He is survived by: his wife Ann Platania Backus; and his children, Kathleen "Kate" Alibrandi (Rob Walters) of Pittsford, NY, Donald Backus (Dee) of Baldwinsville and James Carello (Amy) of Fayetteville. He is also survived by six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22nd 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel (7191 E Genesee St, Fayetteville, NY 13066). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 22nd 2024 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
