She was predeceased by: her parents, Hannes Kettunen and Hilma "Hyytianen" Kettunen; her husband Rev. William H. Bartels; and her siblings, Anna Julia Franke, John David Kettunen, Esther Viola Kettunen and Helen Kettunen.
She is survived by: her children, David Timothy Bartels (Peggy), Deborah Marie Beiderbecke (Phillip), Sharon Priscilla Stone and Mark Jonathan Bartels; her grandchildren, Timothy (Stephanie), Audrey, Lane and Samantha; and her great grandchildren, Cameron and Ellie Rose. She is also survived by extended family and friends.
Expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, may be made in the form of a donation in memory of Dorothy to St. John's Lutheran Church or Lutheran World Relief.
