She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh Cox and Marie Cox; and her husband George McDonald. She is survived by: her sons, George Jr. and Kevin (Anne); her grandchildren, Kyle Mcdonald (Erica) and Tyler McDonald; and her children, Maureen, Paul Merkel, Lauren (David Kennington), Erin (Matt Hawkins), Charlotte, William and Eileen Grim (late Scott).
Joan was a fair justice, seeking thinker and cared about the struggles of folks with modest means, and practiced her politics and her charity accordingly.
