He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold and Eva Watson Colburn Sr.; his wife Arlene Seekings Colburn; his son Robert H. Colburn Jr.; and his siblings, Harold Colburn Jr., Richard Colburn, Roger Colburn, Vivian Devlieger and Geraldine Meredith.

He is survived by: his children, Randy Colburn (Ellen) of Falconer, Carol Hartzell (Russell) of Jamestown, Sylvia Houghwot (Barry Archer) of Celoron and Penny Hampton (Steve) of Pennsylvania; and his grandchildren, Dan Colburn, Amanda Colburn, Allison Colburn, Michael Colburn, Ryan Colburn (Vanessa Kohl), Russell Hartzell (Wendye), Tara Hartzell, Summer Clark, Caleb Nearing, Andrew Milner and Joshua Houghwot.
