He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie F. Winans and Elizabeth L. McGee Winans; and his brother Richard L. Winans. He is survived by: his children, Kelly Haaksma (David) of Lakewood, NY and Ed Winans (Stacy) of Busti; his grandchildren, Brayden Haaksma, Chase, David Winans, Kristina Winans, Brandi Winans and Anna Lawson; and his siblings, Donald Winans (Kathy) of Lander, PA, Stephen Winans of Buffalo, NY and Diane Peterson of Celoron, NY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins.
