He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Walter R. and Shirley Thompson Jr.; his mother-in-law Margaret Lewand; his wife Margaret; his children, Tracey Smallidge (Stephen), Jennifer Larkin (Edwin), Matthew S. Thompson (Elizabeth S. Hayes) and Margaret-Mary Schuber (Jason); his grandchildren, Zoë, Zane, Zeke Smallidge and Samuel Schuber; and his sisters, Linda Dilatush (Thomas) and Cynthia Groenhoff (Richard Leonhart). He was also cherished by his many nieces and nephews.
