He was predeceased by: his parents, William G. Carter and Alice Carter; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Theresa Wega; and his godfather Carmine Crescente.

He is survived by: his wife Lucy; his daughters, Marialice Carter (Mikal), Claire Cox (Andrew), Brittany Fabian (Peter) and Hayley Kishpaugh (Peter); his grandchildren, Adeline, Evelyn, Jack, Finn, Vera, Ian, Benjamin, Nicholas, Martin, Theodore, Matthew and William; his siblings, Bradley Carter (Judy), Kathleen Ives (Gary), James Carter (Amanda), Laura Hoff (Ken) and David Carter (Anne); and his godmother Loretta Crescente. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
