He was predeceased by: his mother Geraldine Harris Bender; his sister Jessie B. Walker; his brothers-in-law, Earl Walker and Otto Toby Johnson; and his nephews, Gene Walker, John Lewis and Brad Johnson.

He is survived by: his sister Edna Johnson Cunningham. He is also survived by loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
