He was predeceased by: his wife Marjorie (Reardon); his son-in-law Timothy Comfort; his parents, Edward Shaughnessy and Nellie Shaughnessy; and his siblings, Jim, Ed, Gerry, Rita Shaughnessy, Jean Nelson and Helen Fitzgerald.
He is survived by: his children, Sally Comfort, Jane Hlopko (Jerry), Patty Szymanski (Marty) and John Shaughnessy; his grandchildren, Sarah, Ryan, Nolan Comfort (Aleksandr Ustin), Andrea Gorson (Brad), Shaughna Winslow (Andy), Daniel Szymanski (Kirsten) and Colin Szymanski; his great grandchild Nora Shaughnessy Winslow; and his sister-in-law Shirley Reardon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
