She was predeceased by: her husband S. Gopalan. She is survived by: her children, Subbu Iyer (Lavanya) of Toronto, Balki Iyer and Lakshmi Poranki (Sri Poranki) of Vestal, NY; her siblings, B. Shankarnarayanan, Alamelu Manga and RamaDevi of India; her sister-in-law Saroja Jagadeesan of India; and her grandchildren, Meera Iyer, Sneha Poranki, Shruthi Poranki, Maya Iyer and Anya Iyer. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
