He was predeceased by: his parents, James L. Swagler and Ida Swagler (Cornell); his wife Ida; his son Craig E. Swagler; and his brothers, Lester and Norman Swagler.

He is survived by: his children, Debra Maggio (Chuck) of Marathon, Curtis Swagler (Patricia) of State College and James Swagler (Debra) of Auburn; his grandchildren, Lisa, David Maggio, Craig N. Swagler, Sheila Swagler Edman (Jason), Blake McEvoy (Brendan), Todd E. Swagler (Ryan Ulsh), Jamie Swagler (Kayla), Josh Swagler (Kayla) and Tyler Reed; his great grandchildren, Mia, Trey of Siena, C. J., Duke, Mila, Kaiya and Ella; and his sisters, Alene Desko and Dolores Dranchak (Nick). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
