He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Arkel and Jennie Van Arkel (Carson); his daughter Beverly Surine; his grandson Jeffrey Surine; his wife Natalie Hutchins VanArkel; and his close friend Beatrice Raponi.
He is survived by: his daughters, Bonnie Ewing of Endicott and Barbara Van Arkel-Farsaci (Peter Farsaci). He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
