He was predeceased by: his parents, Emily Nyahay and Joseph Fitzgerald; his son Michael Fitzgerald; and his brothers, Joseph F. "Timmy" Fitzgerald, John Fitzgerald and Thomas "Tommy" R. Fitzgerald.
He is survived by: his wife Vera Fitzgerald; his children, Lisa, Laura (Ralfy), Natalie, Ann (Michael), Deborah (John) and Jamie (Alex); his grandchildren, Alyssa, Jonelle, Emily, Lily, Ralfy, Melody, Johan, Matthew, Debbie, Carol, Amanda, Samantha, Johnny and Bethany; his nieces, Patricia (Denis), Jody and Christine (Patrick); and also Johnny (Tina). He is also survived by many extended family members, dear friends, and his firefighter brothers.
