It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Stephen E. Gergely of Elmira, New York, who passed away on November 7, 2021, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, John and Mary (Novalis) of Johnstown. He is survived by: his brother-in-law David; his wife Margaret; his children, Amy of Trumansburg, Stephen (Tina) of Macedon and Peter (Tanya) of Wanaque; his grandchildren, Griffin, Camden, Rhys, George, Landon, Graciella, Emma and Brooklyn; his siblings, Teresa McKinney (Bill) of Johnstown, Pennsylvania and Jim; his sister-in-law Jeanne MacKenzie of Phoenix, Arizona; his sister Cathy; his brother-in-law Jim Springer of Bay Islands, Honduras; and his pets, Phoebe, Loki and Mojo. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

The family also respectfully asks everyone to consider getting their Covid vaccine, so that the immunocompromised and the most vulnerable in our communities can be as protected as possible.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be sent to your local S.P.C.A. or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
