It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Reneé Jean Smithers (Elmira, New York), born in Towanda, Pennsylvania, who passed away on January 7, 2024, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, David Denniston and Echo Elaine Westfall Denniston; and her parents-in-law, Richard and Teresa Smithers. She is survived by: her brother-in-law Stephen "Smitty" Smithers; her husband Daniel Smithers; her siblings, Craig Denniston (Nancy) and Kari Eckenrode (Randy); her siblings-in-law, Michael Smithers (Patricia), Cheryl Janeski (Stephen), David Smithers (Mary) and Nodja Coolbaugh; and her pet Ookami. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Reneé's name may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105, or to a charity of one's choice.
