She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence J. and Matilda Scrocarelli Ponzi Sr.; and her husband Edward O. Sophia Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Susan S. Deming (Scott) of Elmira, Karen E. Sophia, Kevin Burke of Elmira, Nancy A. VanKirk (Gary) of Elmira, Mary L. Kohan (Russell) of Big Flats and Edward O. Sophia III (Mary) of Horseheads; her brother Lawrence J. Ponzi Jr. of Horseheads; and her brothers-in-law, James Sophia of Horseheads and Robert Sophia (Sylvia) of Sao Paulo, Brazil.. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and many special friends.
