He was predeceased by: his parents, Libby and Henry; and his sister Pamela Stritzel. He is survived by: his wife Anne LaPointe; his sister Marydel Wypych (Paul); his niece Jennifer; his nephews, Neal and Ian Wypych; his brother-in-law David Stritzel; and his cousins, Annemarie, Michael and Laura Piekunka.

“Joe, you were one of my best friends. You were the usher at my wedding (I asked you to be the best man but you talked me into choosing my brother instead). You were there for the birth of my two children (both are now married and have children of their own). You helped my wife, Chris, to learn how to drive. How I wish I could tell you how much you mattered in my life and to my family. How I wish I could hear you say "Ziggy Boo-boo!" one more time. Love to your wife, Anne, and your family.”
