He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Smith and Cecilia Smith (Mehalke); his wife Marie L. Smith; his children, Keith Smith and Patricia Gulich (Ronald); and his siblings, Albert J. Smith (Barbara), Francis E. Smith (Elizabeth), Caroline Shelton (Huntly) and Mary A. Smith.

He is survived by: his children, Scott Smith (Beth) and Veronica Whitaker (Robert); his grandchildren, Ryan Gulich (Nicole), Darek Gulich, Chad Smith (Ashley Rice), Corrine Smith and Megan Tombs (Justin); his great grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Madalynn Gulich, Julian, Aubria Smith, Abigail and Lincoln Tombs; and his brother Robert C. Smith (Doris). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
