With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Stermer (Elmira, New York), who passed away on December 26, 2024 at the age of 30. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As John departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though John may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy John leaves behind.
He was predeceased by: his father Thomas E. Stermer; his grandparents, Francis "Paul" Stermer, Ross and Mary Goodwin; and his close friend Angel.
He is survived by: his mother Mary "Shelly" Stermer; his siblings, Theresa Stermer, Jessica Stermer, Mary Simpson Stermer (Jarad) and Brandan Stermer; and his grandmother Dorothy Stermer. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the James D. Barrett Funeral Home (1004 Lake St, Elmira, NY 14901). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
