It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John R. Schmidt of Elmira, New York, who passed away on March 18, 2020, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Schmidt and Elizabeth M. Ryniker Schmidt; his wife Mary A. Titus Schmidt; his sister Doris McGann (Jim); his brother-in-law Howard "Dutch" Bennett; his brothers, James Schmidt (Jean) and Thomas Schmidt (Joan); his great grandchild Sean E. Marshall; and his close friend Bobby Lagonegro.
He is survived by: his children, Kathleen Hansen (Paul) of Elmira, Mary Lou Adams (Charlie) of Elmira, Martin of Elmira, Margaret Greatsinger (Edward) of Elmira, Daniel (Colleen) of Elmira, Joseph (Marcie), John (Eliza), Teresa Schmidt-Wiggs (David), Michael (Jennifer McCallum) of Endicott, David (Martine Barnaby) of Vestal and Steven; and his friends, Maggie Lagonegro, Joyce and Tom Savino. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
