She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Murphy and Helen Murphy (Ettenberger); her husband Richard C. Root; her parents-in-law, Rollin Root and Mildred Root; and her siblings-in-law, Arthur Root and Rose Root.

She is survived by: her daughters, Suzanne Morris (Mark) of Penn Yan, JoAnn Welch (Bruce) of Pine City, Diane Root of Elmira and Marianne Schrom (Bill) of Pine City; her grandchildren, Dan Morris (Darcy) of Michigan, Dave Morris (Gwen), Brian Welch (Ashleigh Erickson), Matthew Welch (Christine), Amy Welch (Amy K.) of Rochester, Megan Schrom of Elmira, Samantha Ribble (Randall) of Elmira and Katelyn Schrom (Jake Wilcox) of Pine City; and her great grandchildren, Evan Morris, Audrey Morris, Dylan Welch and Madolyn Welch.
