He was predeceased by: his parents, Dean Hoover and Patricia Hoover. He is survived by: his wife Denise Hoover; his daughter Amber Hoover; his son-in-law Jeff Alexander; his son Jeremy; his daughter-in-law Tammy Hoover; his grandson Paxton Hoover; his siblings, Candace Bertovich and Michael; and his sister-in-law Lisa Hoover.

“My sincere condolences to Denise, Amber and Jeremy, and the rest of his family and friends. Way too soon for Jay to leave us all. I worked with Jay for 11 years at Agway and another 14 at Schweizer's. We shared many conversations and experiences. One of those being Sept 11 2001 when we both worked in inspection. I also remember my last conversation with him about a year ago. He was proud of his family and you could see his love for them. RIP Jay. You will be missed. Steve & Kathy Johnston”
