He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry N. Whitmer and Carrie Newton Wilkes. He is survived by: his children, Melissa Ann Brown (Manuel) and James E. Whitmer, Jr.; his grandsons, Christopher Herrara of Arizona and Manuel Brown Jr. of Arizona; and his siblings, Norma Jean London of Portville, NY, Mary E. Collett, Lola Halstead, Gracie Ann Hogle (Robert) and Henry W. Whitmer. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
