With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joyce M. Austin of Elba, New York, born in Pharr, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 19, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Derr and LoveLake Frasier Derr; her spouse Lowry M. Austin; her son Eugene R. Austin; and her siblings, Dixie Ancelet (Gerald), Leola Stoops (Harmon), Iva Lee Stokes (Jeff), Henry Derr (Lois), Albert Derr (Shirley), Donald Derr, Melvin Derr (Thelma), Glenn Derr (Maxine), William Derr (Esther) and Everett Derr (Beth).
She is survived by: her children, James M. Austin (Kathleen), Nancy E. Miller (Kenneth) and Patricia L. Pratowski (Richard).
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home (308 E Main St, Batavia, NY 14020). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Elba United Methodist Church (8 Chapel St, Elba, NY 14058).
