He was predeceased by: his parents, Anne Marie (Sweeney) and Francis Byrnes. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Byrnes (Duffy); his children, Colleen Butler (Bruce), Elizabeth Young (Scott), Brian (Vanessa Jovel) and William; and his grandson Jack Byrnes Young. He is also survived by his six siblings.

Visitation was held on Sunday, October 6th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Edwin Bennett Funeral Home (824 Scarsdale Ave, Scarsdale, NY 10583). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, October 7th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (8 Carman Rd, Scarsdale, NY 10583).
