In the vast expanse of eternity, Rita shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Rita farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
She was predeceased by: her husband William J. Smith; her parents, Michael Alaura and Angeline Alaura; and her sister Patrica Okolotowicz of East Syracuse. She is survived by: her children, Karen Ladd of Flint, TX, Wil Alaura (Mike) of Tully, Martha Farr (Rick) of Pennellville, Greg Smith of New Orleans and Mary Rose Phipps (Shane) of Binghamton. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
