He was predeceased by: his wife Verna; his siblings, Mary Squadrito, Paulette Ackerman, Bruce, Wendell, Kenneth, Charles and Thomas Ackerman; and his stepchildren, James, John and Lawrence Strickler.

He is survived by: his parents, Clyde Ackerman and Stella Ackerman; his siblings, Lyle Ackerman, Patricia Sojdak, Sandra Potter, Linda VanAlstine and Vanessa Kallette; and his stepchildren, Sandra Miller, Velma Olmsted and Raymond Strickler. He is also survived by 22 step-grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren.
