With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James R. Smith of East Meadow, New York, born in Tarrytown, New York, who passed away on February 14, 2021 at the age of 89. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James R. Smith to pay them a last tribute.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Patrick Smith and Honora Smith (Norine McNamara); his children, Michael A. Smith (Maria), Joan Cetin (John) and Maria Casella; his grandchildren, Leah, Brendan Smith, Thomas (Alyssa), Dylan, Victoria Cetin, Gina, Laura and Joseph Casella; his wife Josephine; and his siblings, Kevin Smith (Lillian), Donald Smith (Renate) and Joan Spitzer (Carlton). He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation ("JDRF") or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
