He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerney F. Butler and Frances R. Richards Butler; and his brother-in-law Myron Baker. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Baker; his children, Jeffrey Butler of Richfield Springs, Mark Butler of East Herkimer, Carolyn Rockwell of East Herkimer and Nadine Lindsay of East Herkimer; his siblings, Gene Butler (Kim) of East Herkimer and Barbara Baker of Rock Hill, SC; and his grandchildren, Sean O'Brien, Heather O'Brien, Casey Rockwell, Jeffrey Butler, Jr., Alesia Butler, Elizabeth Martin and Jenna Swank. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
