He was predeceased by: his parents, John Aloysius Mahar and Anna Gabriel May; and his siblings, John, Thomas, Joseph, Edward, Edith Mahar, Aileen Quigley, Sarah Matochik, Ann Gallagher and Mary Hogan.
He is survived by: his wife Carina A. Cagnina of Yonkers, NY; his children, Kenneth (Catherine), Karen (David), Martin (Lisa), Peter (Courtney), Thomas (Richelle), Kara (Paul), Paul (Jiang) and Aileen (Scott); his grandchildren, Sean, Andrew, Mike, Rachael, Kyle, Carina, Farron, Shannon, Alexandria, Troy, Bailey, Shelby, Madison, Kathleen, Michael, Raymond, Nathaniel, Myles, Paul, Charlotte, Lucille, Vivian and Meiliang; and his great grandchildren, Tyler, Vincent, Cooper, Natalie, Benjamin, Claire, MacKenzie, Audrey and Theodore.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church (54 Herrick St, Rensselaer, NY 12144). A Mass was held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
