Douglas A. Canfield Obituary
With solemn reverence, we commemorate Douglas A. Canfield of East Greenbush, New York, whose life came to an end on February 1, 2025 at the age of 88, leaving behind cherished memories. He was predeceased by: his parents, Burton Nelson Canfield and Helen Canfield Scheen; and his cousin Russell Oathout (Edward Oathout). He is survived by: his wife Mildred Meracle Canfield; his children, Cynthia Schongar (Steven), David Canfield (Sheri), Barbara Jean Grosso (late Joseph), Diane Post (Davidson) and Lisa Canfield; his grandchildren, Rebecca Stevens, Sara Diaz, Katherine Canfield, Leo Melick, Louise Suydam, Kenneth C. Ober, Brian Hindes, Jonathan Hindes, Jackson Hindes and Douglas Mamone; and his cousin Beverly Oathout Allen of Latham. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and numerous cherished friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, Inc. (165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY 12144). A Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Holy Spirit (667 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush, NY 12061).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doug's memory to the Columbia All Sports Club, where he was honored in the Hall of Fame.
