He was predeceased by: his wife Gert; his grandson Brian Cruden; his sibling John Mara; and also Toots. He is survived by: his children, Joseph (Lorraine), Barbara Cruden (George) and Jill Macdonald (Ridgewood); his grandchildren, Nicholas Cruden, Michelle Cruden and Adam Macdonald; and his siblings, Nanette Vuillemot, Margaret MacDowell, Natalie Mara and Betty Sheltry. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
