He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Ess and Helen Ess of East Aurora; his wife Emily Havel Ess of Gonzales; his brothers, Lee and Joel Ess; his sister-in-law Mary Ess of East Aurora; and his pet Princess.
He is survived by: his niece Dawn Ess Spears of Arcade.
In lieu of flowers Mr. Ess has requested to make a memorial contribution in his name to the Seguin Police Department D.A.R.E program or the City of Seguin Animal Shelter.
