He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Zawisky and Mary Palycha; his wife Christine Clara; and his sister Dorothy Jakubczak (late Frank). He is survived by: his children, Tisha (Justin Kopit), Michael James (Rebecca), Matthew, Alan (Emma) and John Paul Zawisky (Katie); his grandchildren, Alivia, Zoe, Asher, Luke, Joseph, Christopher, Eleanor, Elizabeth and Francis; his sister Anna Kapus (late John); and his brother-in-law Rev. James Augustyn.
